What To Expect

What happens during a facial MLD session?

  1. Skin-safe prep. No heavy oils. Come with a clean face, or remove makeup when you arrive.
  2. Neck first. The lymph nodes above the collarbone and along the neck are opened before any facial work.
  3. Face sequence. Feather-light strokes along the jaw, cheeks, nose, forehead and under the eyes.
  4. Finish and hydrate. Drink water. Most clients notice less puffiness straight away.

Frequently Asked

Facial lymphatic drainage questions.

What is facial lymphatic drainage?

Facial MLD is a slow, feather-light, hands-only sequence over the neck, jaw, cheeks, sinuses and around the eyes. It moves fluid toward the lymph nodes in the neck to ease puffiness and that heavy, congested feeling.

Does facial lymphatic drainage help with morning puffiness?

Many clients book it for puffy eyes and a swollen-looking face, especially after poor sleep, travel, salty meals or allergy season. Most people notice their face looks less puffy right after a session.

Can I get facial MLD after a facelift, filler, or dental surgery?

Facial MLD is often requested after facelifts, rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery and wisdom-tooth or dental work, but only with your surgeon's or dentist's clearance and on their timeline. For filler or Botox, wait the time your injector recommends before any facial work.

Is facial MLD the same as gua sha or a facial massage?

No. Gua sha and most facial massages use tools and firmer pressure. MLD is hands only, much lighter, and follows the direction lymph drains. Bleu Massage doesn't use tools, cups or devices.

How long is a facial lymphatic drainage session?

Book 60 minutes for face and neck with upper-body drainage. If you'd like facial work as part of a full-body session, choose 120 minutes.

Who should avoid facial MLD?

Skip it if you have an active skin or sinus infection, a fever, a suspected blood clot, or a thyroid or other condition your doctor has told you to protect. Ask your doctor first if you're unsure.
