Book Post-Op MLDWho Is This For
After liposuction, a BBL, a tummy tuck, a mommy makeover or breast surgery, fluid can build up while the lymphatic system recovers. Many plastic surgeons recommend manual lymphatic drainage to help with swelling, tightness and comfort during healing.
Bleu Massage offers post-op MLD by a Klose-certified therapist, always within your surgeon’s instructions.

Frequently Asked
Follow your surgeon's timing. Many surgeons approve gentle MLD within the first week or two after liposuction or a BBL, and sometimes later after a tummy tuck. Maria asks for your surgeon's written clearance before the first session.
It depends on your procedure and your surgeon's plan. Many clients book two to three sessions a week for the first few weeks, then taper. Maria suggests a plan at your first visit and adjusts it as your swelling changes.
It shouldn't. MLD uses very light, skin-stretching strokes. Maria works around incisions, drains and tender areas and never presses on healing tissue. Tell her right away if anything feels uncomfortable.
Bring it. You'll remove it for the session and put it back on straight after, unless your surgeon has told you otherwise.
Gentle drainage helps move excess fluid, which is one reason surgeons recommend it during recovery. Hard, lumpy or painful areas should always be checked by your surgeon first. Maria will not use aggressive pressure or devices to 'break up' tissue.
Call your surgeon right away for fever, spreading redness, pus or a foul-smelling wound, sudden one-sided leg swelling or calf pain, shortness of breath, or a wound opening. These are medical issues, not massage issues.
No. Complimentary hot stone comes with our massage sessions, but heat isn't used on healing tissue because it can increase swelling.
Yes, with your surgeon's clearance. MLD is commonly requested after breast augmentation or reduction and facial procedures. For facial work, see the facial lymphatic drainage page.
